Hi, I'm new to this, so please bear with me. My husband and I are looking for a reasonable place to snowbird in AZ this upcoming winter. We have a 32' Class C motorhome with one slide. We would be towing a compact vehicle, we also have a small dog that will be with us. Anyone with recent information, I would appreciate your help. We're thinking somewhere in the Phoenix/Mesa area...or if someone has had a great experience, we are not stuck to that area. We're coming from WI...thanks for your input.

We have stayed at many of the 55-and-over parks in Mesa. I suggest that you go down there without making any reservations and take a look at the choices. The mega-parks, with 1,000+ sites, offer every kind of hobby, craft, game, and social events yoi can imagine. Given the size of your coach, you easily can fit in any park down there.

Pay particular attention to how dog-friendly each park is. You can't even walk your dog through the non-pet sections of those parks, and they vary widely in the quality of their dog play areas.

First of all, welcome to the forum. Coming from WI you would be closer to Texas than AZ so why not consider my state? We are a friendly group with much better BBQ. And if it factors into the equation, love cheese curds!!!

Thanks, Dave! I'm going to be speaking to someone from Desert Shadows in North Phoenix tomorrow and I will definitely ask about the pet situation. I appreciate the heads up! We're a little nervous going so far from home and not having reservations. Like I said we're newbies.

Ha, love it that you like cheese curds. We're in the Kewaunee/Door County area and enjoy those curds anytime...cheese makers within 6 miles. Yay! We really hadn't thought about TX, not sure why...maybe I'll take a closer look. Thanks for your input.

We stayed 1 month this past March at Gold Canyon Golf and RV Resort. We really liked it, many activities and these big parks have rules about where you can walk the dog. The dog park enclosed area was very small and no grass any where else so to speak. We checked out Canyon Vistas as well and they have more grass area and we would also stay there. There are many reviews here for the area. We liked this area as felt it was away from the busier areas of Mesa/Chandler but only 10-15 minutes from anything you may want.
