Working on our 2020 RV route/trip. I know we definitely want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway but not sure if we should drive our 25 foot minni winnie or just park the RV and take the tow vehicle on all or part of the trip. I have read conflicting information about the ease or not of driving the Parkway with an RV. Any first hand info would be greatly appreciated.
It has been a few years since we drove the parkway from the start on the western side up through the Grandfather Mountain area. We were in our car then, but I do not recall any place that I would have felt uncomfortable driving our 37 ft motorhome with our car in tow.
I drove the entire parkway south with the trailer a few years ago. I am a little smaller than you, but had no difficulty anywhere with the trailer. Parking was easy enough and even in November when I did the trip, I had no trouble finding campgrounds along the way. With the Minnie Winnie you are well below the centerline heights of all the tunnels as well.
We drove the parkway a little bit last weekend and I forgot another handy tip, If an overlook on the parkway is too tight to park a trailer they actually mark it with a sign "No Trailers" under the overlook sign, so you know ahead of time not to pull in there with an RV. Here is one of the many nice views to wet your appetite.
