Hi Richard and welcome to the forum. That front latch that won't snap back in place could just need a slight adjustment as it sounds like it probably just isn't catching when you close it; We had this happen with the same type of "push in to open" latch. and then then when closing you push in while snapping the latch handle itself back down to secure it. One of ours did the same thing you mention here so give that a try and see if that works. It's been a few years since we had this happen but if memory serves me there is an adjustment you can turn one way or the other to loosen or tighten the latch to make a secure contact when closing. Let me know if this works as I believe it will.......

Again, welcome to the forum. Great bunch of folks here to assist at any time you need help, etc. and be sure to jump in at anytime when you have can assist other RVers or have questions, etc. Travel safe and often and be sure to post reviews of where you stay on the flip side (HOME) of this site...................

Your latch is probably similar to mine on my National Dolphin (Sea Breeze was also made by National). Try spraying the latch librally with a lubricant like WD-40, and then keep working the latch. That's what helped mine.

    Good luck,

Does the actual metal "grab portion" of that latch appear to be stuck? Kind of like the hood got closed and the latch was not open? Is it cable driven from inside the rig or are you able to grab a lever from outside near the hood to open?

To replace a hood latch on most vehicles, a technician will open the hood, detach the latch from its mount, unplug the alarm switch if so equipped, and disconnect the release cable. A new latch is connected and mounted and the technician checks for proper operation and alignment before closing the hood. Once the hood is closed, the technician will verify the hood alignment, and adjust if necessary. On some vehicles, trim components may need to be removed for access. If the release cable needs to be replaced, the procedure is markedly more complicated, since the cable needs to be routed behind mechanical and electrical components, around structural body components, and through the firewall (between the passenger and engine compartments) to the release lever location. This can require a good deal of disassembly, and the new cable can be compromised if the procedure is not performed carefully. In extreme cases, if the hood will not open because of a faulty latch, surrounding parts, such as the grille, may need to be broken in order to gain access to the latch.

    Hello, Richard!
Are you sure that you gave the handle with enough force?
