Purchased our first RV a month ago and returned from our first trip two weeks ago. Having a ball for sure . Just found this site and am already hooked! All of you and your tips etc. are awesome. Thank you from a "newbie"
Hello, are you 30 amp or 50 amp? If you are 30 amp, really gotta watch the appliance use. I have had two hard lessons learned. Your "high amp" appliances are: Microwave Space heaters Electric water heater (if your RV has one) Curling irons and hair dryers will rank up there, too. I just recently learned how to calculate amps if it's not on the appliance: Watts divided by volts. Most appliances are 120 volts, so if it's 600 watts, it will pull 5 amps (or 600 / 120). The Frig and even a TV factor in there, too. I hope you have fun!
We have 30 amp and so far so good. No space heaters. Yes on the electric water heater but only use that short term for dish water. Microwave sometime. Hair drier and curling irons......I'm on vacation! lol We try to only have one of those on at a time. Thank you for info QUOTE(DXSMac @ Sep 18 2012, 02:45 PM) Hello, are you 30 amp or 50 amp? If you are 30 amp, really gotta watch the appliance use. Quite a braintrust and, fortunate for us, willing to share what they know. It's nice that when we have a question we can use the "search" feature to see if anyone's answered it previously. And, if the information seems like it might be a little out of date, no one seems to mind if you re-ask the question or pop the original thread to the top with a request for more info. Safe travels to you!
