I tried to submit a new park in Texas not listed in RV Park Reviews. It requires a city. There are no cities in the list near the park.
    https://www.campgroundreviews.com/review/add/park?country=us&region_id=42

The closest city available is Cleburne, TX 22 miles away.

Should I submit the park with Cleburne and let you guys fix it later?

The park is Kimbell Bend Park (COE) in Kopperl, TX.
    http://www.recreation.gov/camping/k...oundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72062
35 sites. 50/30/20 electric with water. Central dump station.

    Thanks,

    Russell

I just added Kopperl TX to the database but I think you could have done the same thing if you had entered the park name and city and then had used the Fetch Geodata link which would have searched Google Maps for the information.

Joel, I tried to do that three times but it would or could not accept Kopperl as a Texas City. I finally listed Cleburne to allow me to proceed to the next screen.

Sounds like you added Kopperl, so all is good.

We will stay at Kimbell Bend Park this weekend and will post up the review and park info for approval.

I tried to edit the park and now on one line of the listing it says Kopperl and on another line it says Cleburne. I haven't been able to figure out why it's doing that.

I have not tried adding a park in RV Park Reviews since the new software.

Hopefully I did not screw it up by entering Cleburne. If so, sorry.....

I don't think it's anything you did; I think there's an issue with Google Maps but it does know that the park is in Kopperl.

Despite it's mailing address, this new CG would be best placed in the city of Whitney, TX. Lake Whitney has almost a dozen campgrounds situated around it, many of which are reviewed on this site and listed under the town of Whitney, TX. While it is true this one may be nearer Kopperal, a very small town, placing the CG there may make it harder to find considering most would search under Whitney, TX. In addition, having it with the other CGs around the lake affords others the benefit of looking at it with all of the rest of the reviews for Lake Whitney.

Advise from someone who lives in the region.

But Kimball Bend is closer to Cleburne and Meridian than Whitney.

I thought our policy was to use the mailing address city; I don't know how we could control things if people were authorized to use cities other than those in the mailing address.

    Joel, I agree.

When I use RV Park Reviews I use the map to find campgrounds near locations I want to visit.

I'd not like finding the parks 20+ miles away from the pin.

    Just my 2 cents....

No matter which city is used, the map pin should be placed at the park, not the city. The pin for this park has already been properly set; the city issue is totally separate.

However, IMO it makes no sense to use anything other than Kopperl as the city since anyone looking up the park on the web will see that as the city where it is located and will attempt to search RVPR using that location. Using a different city will introduce unnecessary confusion.

    Yes, I like that feature.

I would also like a way to separate commercial/private parks from public parks.

We mainly camp at state parks, COE's, Forest Service, etc.

I think someday we may be able to separate parks by type as you indicate. However, performing searches such as that would necessitate adding data to a park's listing that doesn't currently exist. In other words, all >20,000 parks would have to be coded as to private, state, federal, etc. That's a lot of work.

I realize it would be a lot of work, but I second the suggestion that the search function allow users to sort by type of park. Perhaps you could start with just the State Parks? I'd find it very useful to see how all the State Parks in a particular state were rated, rather than looking them up individually.

But doing that will require that a "flag" be set for all State parks that marks them as being included in that "set". It's something that would be nice to do, but it isn't something that can be done overnight.

I know this is not ideal, but click on Go for the search box which will take you to the search page. Then try typing "state park" in the search box and click on the name of the state you are interested in in the drop down box. You will get a list of state parks in that state.

Admin: The park Kimball Bend Park is misspelled in the listings as Kimbell.

I posted a review waiting approval.

Nice COE park on the Brazos River.

Thanks for catching that. It's now been fixed, but changes like this aren't displayed instantaneously so it may be a bit before you see it.

Thanks, that works quite well, as it appears that "State Park" is included in all the parks names. Not sure if "County Park" or "City Park" is as uniformly included, but it may get some or most of them.
