We got back on June 6th after 51 days out on the road. Maybe the trip of a lifetime? (Hope to do more in the future but one never knows). We are both recently retired and traveled with the help of two 50 lb. fur babies!!! (An 8 year old and a one year old.) We bought a 15 year old 25 ft. 5th wheel last fall and then a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 with quad cab (gas job) to haul it with. Left Maine on April 17th and headed down the east coast to drive Skyline Drive and then the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Old Trace. The wife toured Dollywood and Grand Old Opry along the way. New Orleans then across Texas after which we started hitting National Parks and Monuments in earnest, through New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Spent 10 nights in Utah seeing way more scenery then we ever planned and still did not see it all. This is a great country with much to see. We took about 13,000 pictures of varying quality that are still being weeded through.

I'm glad you had the opportunity to make the trip. It sounds like it was very enjoyable. There is a lot to see and do out there.

We are planning to do a similar trip next spring. But we are selling the stick and brick so we will have no anchors to hold us back. Instead of having "someplace" to go we will have "everywhere" to go. When the travel urge has ebbed a bit we may find a place to settle down again. Only time will tell.

Sounds like a great trip. We currently are one month into a 4 month trek.

A big welcome to the forum 2maniacs. Sounds like you are off to a great start and have a lot of great adventures ahead just waiting to be taken. Nice that you have those two 50 lb fur babies along to keep you warm during the cold winter months. Travel safe and enjoy every mile. It's a really neat way to see the country and all it offers..............

    All the best, BankShot................(aka Terry)

Hey Darrell - What's this!!! You're giving up the sticks and bricks......??? Knowing this what will we do when we eventually get around to visiting "the island"......??? Our plan was to drop the anchor in front of your digs for a few days or weeks and just stick the old hose into the nearest sewer drain on your street and then settle in and enjoy some quality time. Guess we'll have to rethink this future trip and try to find you elsewhere............... :D

Bet you are looking forward to next spring and all the adventures you too will be enjoying..........

    Regards, Terry...............(aka BankShot)

I wouldn't be surprised if our paths crossed Terry. In fact I'm betting they will. While we won't have a Stick and Brick anchor we still have a couple kids and other relatives around the country to bring us back so we will be passing near your every once in a while. I'll just send you a note to find out where you are.

We are looking forward to next spring and it will come soon. There is a lot of behind the scene stuff that has to be completed we before we can go

Don't mean to be side tracking 2maniacs' thread here but if you do by chance get down into No. Calif. at some point, do shoot me an email and perhaps we can meet up at a point convenient to us both. In the spring months we are usually on the road but it all depends on what the weather is doing whether we are over in AZ or somewhere out on the coast. If you drink a cold one now and then I'll even try to pick up some Labatt Blue and we can raise a bottle to whatever we like raising one to............ :D

Travel safe and have fun all the time, Terry...............(aka BankShot)

PS: Sorry for derailing your thread here 2maniacs.............
