We are heading down the coast from Bar Harbor Maine to Florida starting mid Sept - we are currently camping in New Brunswick Canada. We are excited to experience the fall colors and seeing many historical sites. My husband has concerns about weather and hurricanes. Any advice? Thank you.

Just keep an eye on the weather, we have never had to deal or leave because of a "direct" hurricane impact, but a few times we have had to change departure or arrival times or cancel because of hurricane or tropical storm remnants.

So far weather is looking quiet as we are heading on a similar trip to the OBX and then onto TN, KY this coming week.

I think you should keep up to date and closely monitor the weather forecast, especially when traveling to hurricane-prone areas, and always have a backup plan for emergencies.

Just curious, I hope your trip was uneventful but did Helene affect your travels?

As for us we checked out early morning in Gatlinburg the day when Helene made landfall in FL. Had lots of rain behind us when we checked in at Mammoth Cave NP. We were doing cave tours while the storm was over the NP. The rest of our trip was lots of rain, clouds.
