Confederate flag allowed in avatars?

In the list of "latest replies" over on the right side of the screen, there's an avatar with a confederate flag in it. I noticed it even though those avatars are considerably smaller than the ones that appear with actual posts.

I assume there are some limits on what people can use as an avatar, taking into account sensibilities--like nothing pornographic, or a swastika, for example. I would like to suggest that confederate flags be disallowed for the same reason.

 

Boy, if this doesn't open a can of worms I don't know what will. All I will say on this is that I am sick and tired of all the "political correctness" crap, including such things as those that want names of major league sports teams changed because of this kind of thing that gets started. What the heck is our country coming to anymore? The Confederate flag is part of this nation's history. Sure, the Civil War isn't something we are proud of having happened but it did and a specific flag was created by those that stood for the Confederacy. Hey, how about we tell the Republican and Democratic parties to stop using the Elephant and the Donkey as their party symbols. That's a terrible thing to do to those two animals...... . I agree that such things or symbols that are pornographic, or are a symbol such as a swastika that represents everything that this country stands against, should not be used in an avatar but let's not go overboard and get all up tight simply because someone chooses the Confederate flag as theirs. I think this forum has much better things to discuss than a topic such as this but if this thread is carried on to any length and starts to get into pissing contests, etc. over all this then we, as a group. will be sinking to a low standard IMHO. I am not up on a podium here either, I simply feel we have much better things we can direct our thoughts and comments to....................
