Hello there, I have had some issues with my RV battery, and want to try to be preventive for the future. This RV is old, 2006, but the battery (both of them, actually) and the DC converter have all now been replaced. I noticed after not driving it for 2 months, it started right up, but is slow to charge the DC battery. I also heard a dinging noise occasionally as I was driving, coming from the back, and have not been able to get back there and investigate. I drove it for about one hour. I am wondering if I need to keep something on the battery, while the RV is stored at the storage lot. I take it out every month if I can, but sometimes, it is 2 months in between trips. Thank you for any advice!
The thing i do when storing my motorhome for more than a few days is to hard disconnect both the house batteries and the engine battery. this can be done by just disconnecting the cables, or installing a battery disconnect on the terminals or cable. this then garantees that when i return, the batteries will be just as charged as when i left them, and no parasidic drains will bring them down.
