Hi from Happy Camper X2. My name is Gary and I believe I was last online in 2022. I have been camping since 1990 and have been seasonal the last 5-6 years I guess at Old Stage. Almost 12 years ago I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma which has cut into camping some, especially setting up thus the reason for being seasonal. We were planning to pull the camper off site once or twice this summer but wouldn’t you know it I was just diagnosed with leukemia which has ended and travel this summer. I do hope to be well enough after chemo to be up in NH at Old Stage. A few years ago I did meet Mike mdcamping as he stopped by to visit me at Old Stage after my second stem cell transplant. Anyway, my 2 boys have trailers and camp with us 2-3 times a year and we had hoped to camp with them up in Maine this year but it will have to wait. Don’t worry about me as I told my doctor I plan to live another 20 years so let’s make it happen. Happy Camping everyone.
Hello, and welcome back to the forums and this site. i hope and pray your health improves to be able to enjoy some camping trips soon. I am originally from Conn. and my parents frequently took trips up north to Maine and NH, sometimes camping, skiing or attending dog shows. regards, chris G.
Welcome back Gary! I still have fond memories of the “That’s Camping Forum” days long ago. I do miss all the person to person type posts back in the days long before AI and the super google search engines that now seem to push old campers like us out of the way. As for us were still the only ones who does camping in our family though my boys do join us on one or two trips per year when we meet with several other families in PA and upper state NY as they will rent one of those camping cottages. Though we haven’t confirmed plans yet we may be heading up to York ME this Sept or early Oct so my thinking is I will leave a message at the Old Stage Office to see if your available for a short visit. I’m having a hard time finding the right words but I just want to say, just stay positive as plenty of camping days will be ahead of you! Mike & Kathleen
