I have seen photos of some of our forumn subscribers that are more offensive and not as good looking.
A few years back I too mentioned that the ads were getting a bit risqué. I was told that the webmaster does allow ads in order to finance the website, but that he does not control what is shown. Now here is the interesting part. The ad company is somehow able to show ads from websites that you have visited, so one member does not always get the same ads as another member. Recently I have been looking at websites that have lamps and cooktops. Now I am seeing ads for those two items in the ad banners on this website. Also when I do get the “ladies” (sometimes men) pictures they usually say something like, “Meet singles in the (my city) area.” So they can even get my location when I am online. The good news is I have also been told that this involves cookies that are set on your computer whenever you visit websites and that if you delete your cookies frequently and if you set your security settings higher, you will not get these ads. But I’m not sure about that—just something I’ve been told. Perhaps someone with more technology savvy can give you better advice.
I use Firefox and installed Adblocker so I never see any ads at all on here. I didn't even know we had any here.

I'm getting the "women," too. What makes them think I'm interested in meeting women? Wonder what website I went to that caused that....
I use Chrome browser - no ads. Sometimes, on boring days I kind of miss them and switch to IE Explorer - I see lots of ads then.
I have never been to any of this type of site and never plan to. What I am also concerned is there can be young children using this site as well to read and would see and maybe go to this website. I would think you could stress that these type of adds are not acceptable. Today it is ok to do and say things that are improper and then have to get something to remove them. On TV you can see that they are using foul language but they just blank it out. That is just the next step to allowing it in the future. FWIW End of rant. BC
You don't have to go "that type" of site for the ad company to pick up your address (whatever it is they get--I don't even know what to call it). You may have looked at Amazon for example, and somehow the ad company picked up your "address" (that's what I'll call it) and then sent you whatever ad they wanted. This isn't quite the same thing, but you should see the tons of spam email we get for things I never looked at--Canadian pharmacies, as seen on TV ads, political ads, etc. Right now I have two anti-spam programs running on my email so that these do not get through to my mailbox. Obviously there are browsers that help eliminate this, but if you do not have one of them, then you need to tighten your security settings on the browser you have. Also if children use your computer, that is another reason to set your security very high or add some sort of parental control/filter to the computer. If computers are set up to block these ads, they will not be visible even if a child does access the site. No one can stop people from sending this out, so we have to do things to our computers so that we do not receive/see it.
