So I have done a number of reports about home trips so thought it was time to do a report about my USA 2015 adventure. My best mate has a problem........yep its Star Wars. When he said to me in 2014 "Lets go to the Big Star Wars Celebration in LA in 2015"I was like...yeah sure 3 kids mortgage bills no problems. So I went home and told my wife about his amusing idea and was met with the following; "You never do anything like that.....why not go" Thinking that either a) its a joke......or...b) Its a trap!.....or.....c) why didn't I tape record her...... I actually ended up going to the West Coast for 2 weeks in 2015. Onto the report. So the flight Brisbane....a few beers for a 13 hour flight......between 2 fat dudes....kill me now...and then a short hop to Seattle...I love this town! Great Sports Bars and local accommodation. Big shout out to my Brothers in blue for an amazing welcome! Welcome Boeing!!!! What a spot I wish we had a week here between the boeing factory and the Museum of flight it was amazing. The transport just quietly was rubbish so a little disappointed. Great Coffee and sports bars though! http://www.sportrestaurant.com/ we had dinner here for 3 nights as the food and company was amazing. Ask them where the South Sydney NRL jersey is as I left them one to be framed! So the Boeing factory is simply amazing. and my Museum of Flight pics are coming. No pics for Boeing though they took my camera! Then on to the Museum of Flight and its amazing exhibits. For our American cousins I have done the Smithsonian this place is number 2! Breath it in people! and a little more.....I actually made a large wall print of this picture. And more to come Las Vegas and beyond!
Sorry a couple of more Museum of Flight favourites..... America between the wars...... Our Greatest Generation..... and the Korean heroes..... Space.....Mercury and beyond.....
So had to drag ourselves away from Seattle to join our group for 5 nights in Vegas......what could possibly go wrong.... The Hotel.....The choice of many Aussies Planet Hollywood. Sorry I found that the old part of vegas was really nice the rest was tired and a bit over rated. But your dust storms are pretty cool! And the sun is great! bit sick of the nose bleed (Dry altitude without moisture instant nosebleed for Queenslanders) I love the local food.....Breakfast of Champions...and lunch and dinner...etc And the chance to catch up with brothers.....someone ask the purple fat guy to get a room.... On to Los Angeles!
So then it was on to Anaheim, we drove for something different, interesting for the first 2 hours through the desert then a little repetitive. Accommodation was at the Hilton Anaheim next door to the Convention Centre and the home of Star Wars Celebration. On the first day I went down stairs and found 70,000 people lined up waiting to get in. A real highlight at the event was the amazing food vans parked in the centre every day. So...Yep I went to Disneyland. Had not been there since 1997 so a LOT had changed including a whole new park in the form of California Adventure. OK being a big kid at heart I headed straight for Cars land the highlight for me. What a highlight I wished my 3 munchkins could have been there. Awesome place! And at night it steps up a level. And of course here is Mickey. But as a note don't eat here it was one of the few disappointing meals I had in the area. An interesting note is that as of the next couple of weeks here in April 2016 the Big Bear area will disappear as they commence building the huge new Star Wars world.
