Albie is sold out because of BalloonFest so we are going to an unknown (to us) site at Palisades RV Park, near Old Town. Being near Old Town is a plus, but we have no knowledge of this park or whether it's in general use by temporary campers. Can only find a listing on it here and there. Thx for any help. Go chile harvest - bringing friends from Michigan who have never been to New Mexico at all - it will look like being on the moon in comparison to MI. B)
Palisades RV Park is on Central but not all that close to Old Town To get there Depending on which way you be coming in on 40 take the Coors road exit south and then turn West on Central.. The sites are a bit narrow and there are a fair number of seasonal ..... so Palisades would not be my first choice.. Albuquerque is full of neat things to see and do... We go there a couple of times a year.. Just came back in fact last week! I hope you will have the time to see some of the rest of the state.... we acted as tour guide on our recent visit for some friends of ours from Oregon.... They really loved it!
The answer to your question about Paridise RV Park may be giving you pause for thought. We have an idea for you. We, too, are going to the Balloon Festival (from Prescott, AZ). We opted to camp close to the Festival grounds for $24 (I think) a night. It is dry open field camping surrounded by who knows how many thousand others, but it is convenient. They provide a free shuttle to the gate (no traffic jams and no cost for parking on top of the cost of camping). We don't usually do this sort of thing (except in Quartzsite), but it seemed to make sense for early morning and evening baloon gazing. They said, when we called, that a lot can be seen from the campground without going on the grounds (of course not as much as being on the grounds). We were told there is unlimited space so no reservations are needed. Having lived and traveled for four years in a 31 footer, we now have a Chalet popup, our "Casa-not-so-Grande." Good luck.
