Boondocking guide

Im interested in boondocking, never thought I would be but I am. Is there some sort of guide available? I have no idea where I can legally boondock.. I live in South Carolina? Sorry for this new thread but I tried searching and everyone talks about it but I barely know what it is. Is it National forests basically and BLM?

Anyway if there is something I can read Id appreciate someone pointing me. thank you.

 

So, "boondocking" can mean lots of things to lots of people. What type of RV do you have? is it fully self contained like a motorhome or trailer, or will you have limited services, like a tent or just sleeping in your car?

you can boodock in some parking lots like Wallmart, Flying J, Cracker Barrel, etc., as long as you check with the store manager. you can boondock in some areas of National Forests and BLM land as well.

Thanks. 2 weeks ago I went camping after planning out a trip. I wanted peace and quiet for 4 days. What I got was diesel trucks coming and going all day, starting up at 6am. So Im looking for a way to avoid all the noise. I have a small TT. Music is annoying as well, I just want peace and quiet.. thats all.

 

You can use the filters on any state page here at Campgrounds to filter for BLM, USFS and other off grid areas. You can also specifically filter for boondocking

 

Hi, I usually look for secluded places away from roads and popular trails. I used the Campendium app for my search.
