I thought it would be interesting to take an online map (Google Maps) and overlay a database of campgrounds in the US. The result is a map that shows the campgrounds in any given area in the US. You can click on the campground markers to display information about the campground (name, address, phone, email, etc.). Also displayed is the campground's website if available, which you can click on to view. Of interest to RV Park Reviews users will be the links to reviews on this site when available. I have links to many of the campground reviews from their corresponding campground markers on the map, but not all of them. I am working to get more of them added. I think this makes a great way to find campgrounds in a given area, and get info and read reviews about the campgrounds. Check it out and let me know what you think. www.epgsoft.com/CampgroundMap/ P.S. If you know of a campground that is missing or has incorrect information, please let me know and I'll update the map. Thanks, Eric Grove
I think that was very nice of you to do that and share it with everybody. It had to have taken you some time, so, Thanks!
Eric has added a very useful site with the RV Maps. The correlation between his map, rv park reviews, and several other sites is OUTSTANDING. He has done what Affinity and others did NOT do! Keep up the good work of linking rv sites on the internet.
Thankyou for showing me this great website. It is easy to use and has all the info I am looking. It is just awesome!
This is a great tool. It makes the campground reviews more helpful, and because it includes those which haven't been reviewed, it helps find places that might otherwise be overlooked. Thanks for your work!
Eric - that's amazing! You must have spent an awful lot of time working on that. Thank you very much, I'm sure it will come in handy when trying to locate parks. You asked us to let you know if there were any campgrounds not on your map. I don't think the following the following campgrounds are on your map (just got back from a trip down to Florida - these one's are all in FL). Fort De Soto (in Tierra Verde south of St. Petersburg) Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground Jetty Park (Port Canaveral) Yellow Jacket (Old Town - on Suwannee River) Thanks again for this helpful resource.
Eric, this is a very interesting approach. How do I get my park listed? We are one of the nicer parks in the North Houston, Tx. area: LONESTARLAKESRVPARK.COM Thanks, Phil Griffin (parkmanaa@yahoo.com) QUOTE(egrove @ Apr 18 2006, 08:58 PM) I thought it would be interesting to take an online map (Google Maps) and overlay a database of campgrounds in the US. this sis one of the best ideas i have seen in a long while keep up the good work. we will certainly be using it as we travel thanks boater
Several of us have been helping Eric list rv parks on his site. He really needs help with the BIG states. Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, to name a few. The midwest in nearly completed and much of the New England is done. How about going reviewing the rvpark reviews sites and adding the necessary information! It would allow more people to use the map this summer!!!!!
I usually do not log on to this site by name. I just view the forums as a guest. This time is different. I was playing around at Eric's site and I had to log on to say thank you for putting together such a fantastic collection of camping information on one site. This is something the camping community has needed for a long time. NICE JOB!!! Ken
Thanks for all of the encouraging comments. It has been a lot of work to put together this map site, so it's great to hear that others find it useful. Users such as jojolima have also been very helpful in adding campgrounds to the map. Parkmanaa, I will see that your campground gets added to the map. - Eric
What a great site! Awesome work. FYI - the Wichards Beach Campground in NC is closed. Victim of condos. Show me the money!
Maps are certainly a user-friendly interface. Thanks for all the time and care you have put into this effort, Eric, it shows. I've added a couple parks, will add more later. Green Haven RV Park, Falls City, Oregon Harlow's RV Park, Early, TX Happy trails, Al
I just wanted to add my kusos to Eric. You obviously have computer skills us oldies can only dream of. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Google Earth system that Eric has incorporated, try out the HYBRID function. It gives you a satellite view with the main roads and their names overlayed on the satelite view. Two Warnings: for many areas you can not zoom in completely and even when you can the images can be blurry. For those areas where you can get to one of the top levels of Zoom, you may get a view of the RV park so good that you can count the RV's and see the pool. One other warning: some of the satellite images are several years old and newer parks will not be there. For example, I just checked out the Bay Mills Casino Rv park near Brimley, MI. It was complete several years ago, but showed up as a large dirt patch with maybe 10 RVs. Try this site and enjoy it. Jerry Sullivan Chicago
