ANYBODY familiar with James Island County Campground----Charleston, SC plan on going that way in June---------whats to do in the area or in the park as we plan on staying a week or so. PJRACER pej.dj@knology.net
I have stayed there several years ago. I think it was 1998. It was a wonderful park then. Check out the reviews on this website, RV Park Reviews. I think you will find that that park still rates very high with RVer's.
James Island is a very nice park. Charleston is full of places to see. You could spend a month in that town and not see everything. You will find a lot of information on town from people in park. A number of hits on this place on this board and under RV Park Reviews. Have a good time.
they have a waterpark for mostly kids but looks very nice from the outside we have been there in late march a few times.also have several miles of paved biking / hiking trails that are beautiful.they have crabbing pier and several lakes/ponds for fishing and boating ( canoe/paddleboat)they have a private ocean front park area about seven miles from park.downtown charleston and all of its charm only ten minutes away.this is a great place to spend some time. dcfergie
We were there last week for a few days and it was great. Last time we were there was 9 years ago. Still a nice park, lots of paved bike paths. Fire pits at each site and sites are nicely spaced many with vegetation between sites. A shuttle will take you to the Charleston Visitor's Center for a small fee and pick you up later. We found Charleston to be very easy to navigate with a 3/4 ton Chevy longbed. Bring quarters for the meters as parking on streetside is plentiful. When you register for the camp, ask the desk for a map of the city. It's of the public transportation system which is not fully operational anymore, but the map is the best one we found. Also check the clubhouse, it has a rack or two of brochures with the tours and cruises of the area. Plenty to do in the park and outside. Happy trails.
We camphosted at James Island for 2 mo in 98. We had a lot of free time and were never bored. Nearby Charleston is a city with a great deal of southern charm, history with mansions, boat trips museums, cultural events, gardens etc., etc. at and from the cg are great bike trails and a great beach a few miles away. You may well want the beach as it could be hot and humid in June. We were there in Nov-Dec. The y'all come back is very tempting. Enjoy
