We are planning to spend the winter in Baton Rouge LA, but can find no information on the web, other than the KOA in Denham Springs. Has anyone out there stayed in any other campground around that area? Thanks for the input.

Gypsyfolks, looking for he next great place.

We have spent time in Cajun Country Canpground in Port Allen (across the river) not a bad place and you have KOA Baton Rouge East about 20 miles out. The Cajun site takes about 10 mins to drive over to town. Lot to see around town. Baton Rouge in French is (Red Stick). Read the post on this site for more information on two sites under Port Allen and under Barton Rouge. The people and food are great. Travel south on Hwy 1 to see Nottoway Plantation. Great place to spend the day. Have FUN!

Hello Swalkr, (Gypsy folks..with that quote we knew immediately it was you!!) (In case you don't remember us.. we spent the winter with you in Rockport last year and cooked fish!! Is that a clue??) Anyway, didn't know you were planning on winter in Baton Rouge this year, but we have stayed at the KOA in Hammond which is between Hammond/New Orleans and Baton Rouge and it was a wonderful place. We arrived there very late in our travels and they met us at the door and escorted us to our site. It was very clean and there is a pond on the property so you can catch some fish if you'd like... just don't forget the "old bay"!!! You guys would really like it.. it is not very large, and it's outside of the city far enough to be quiet.. yet close to the freeway to get wherever you want to go! The people there were really nice. We checked on staying there monthly and their rates were not bad... not as cheap as Rockport, but close!! Have a wonderful trip, talk to you again soon... Happy Trails!!! We'll see you guys on the "dusty trail".. !!!!
