    Hello everyone,

My husband and I are taking our annual trip to the Smoky Mountains in June this year. This will be the third year we have stayed on the North Carolina side (after many years on the TN side). We want to stay in a different campground this year and we are considering Happy Holidays (I think that is the name of it). Our two priorities for a campground are decent size sites and we want to be on a trout stream or river. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also does anyone know if Happy Holidays has a website and if so, what the address is? Any other websites for campgrounds in the area would also help.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Let me tell you,...you want to go to happy holiday it is great we have been there a lot and they have a great trout pond and a stream all around the park it is great for people with kids or without!it is far enough away from town to be peaceful but close enough that you do not have to drive far to anything.this yr. we are staying on the tenn. side at crazy horse campground but we will be in cherokee for the pow wow thats held every 4th of july weekend. we are all half cherokee and my husband dances its a real site to see. gorgeous dresses. well i hope this helps you out i am pretty sure they do not have a website but i could be wrong. we love this campground and the staff are great and they keep this place clean! they have a rest. and a camp store. a playground and its so cool there they have a little bridge that overlooks the river and its so peaceful! do you know anything about crazy horse campground? tonya eastman

    Tonya,

Thanks for the post about Happy Holidays. I am pretty sure that is the place we will stay.

To answer your question, No we have never stayed at Crazy Horse - but I have heard alot about it. Most any review I have ever read about Crazy Horse was favorable - just a couple that weren't so good. I know I have read somewhere (maybe on this site) that it is best to get a site on the stream.

    Thanks for your help!

We just returned from the Cherokee KOA. I would recommend it-lots of visible improvemnts are under way. The indoor pool was a hit (there is also an outdoor pool). Nice folks, clean tec. during the summer there are shuttle buses to: GSMNP, tubing etc. There are several stocked trout ponds on the CG.

They do employ foreign students on some kind of exchange program. All were very nice and helpful.
