Looking for a campground to stay at in Vicksburg the first weekend of May. I like to have a enough space to put my awning out without touching the camper next to me and I also like a clean, safe park. I have 2 little boys and I am sure other mothers have the same feelings I do when it comes to choosing a campground. So, if anyone has stayed at any campgrounds in Vicksburg I would love your opinion on which one we should stay at. Thanks in advance for any information anyone gives me. :)

The Vicksburg area is very limited on quality campgrounds in my opinion. One of the casinos has a clean, secure campground.(sorry I can't remember which one, you should be able to "net" it up though) This CG, however is more like an rv parking lot, with little to do at the actual CG, especially for little ones. The one or two others in Vicksburg, I wouldn't recomend at all. There are some trashy looking RV's with shady looking full timers staying there. I would recommend Askew's Landing Campground, near Edwards, about 15 minutes east of Vicksburg. It's quite scenic, clean, and very family oriented. Good Luck!

We used Isle of Capri, very close to I-20. Park is clean, has a nice pool, nice sites, 30/50 amps service, telephone hook up on site, and if you have a card from casino you receive a discount on your site. Down side is you can only stay three or four days. Park is not a place to spent a lot of time. Park was OK for visit of city. You will not find a lot of RV parks around Vicksburg.
