We plan to spend a few nights in the Charleston,SC area sometime around Christmas. This will be our first trip ever in our 30ft travel trailer. Any campground advice or input would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Artbus,

Welcome to the group and we hope you find tons of good information here.

Charleston, SC is a great place to tour. You could spend a month in that place and not see it all. We use Oak Plantation Campground on Hwy 17 south of city. If you like the ocean use The Campground at James Island County Park south of city. You can check on each place here as lots of reviews have been posted on each place.

Charleston has great places to eat out as well. Plan on more time to see all the sites and places in and around Charleston. We have been in the city 20 plus times and yet find places to see yet.

    Have fun!

We lived in that area for several years and have been back to visit since then. Our favorite place to say in the RV and that of many others we know is the James Island County Park. Check it out at: http://www.ccprc.com/index.aspx?nid=68

I agree. We have stayed in both Oak Plantation and James Island. We much prefer James Island, especially since they have that beautiful light display at Christmas....and the daily shuttles into Charleston are also helpful. We've stayed there five times and will go back again.
