Dick, I do not think you will find any campgrounds close to Charlotte. I see a KOA in Fort Mills, SC off exit 88. That is only a short run into Charlotte. We have not been to this site so I have no information on it. Hope it will help.
There is a large 'parking lot' type campground just North of Charlotte, across from the Lowe's Motor Speedway. It's operated by Tom Johnson RV Center http://www.tomjohnsoncamping.com/. I call it parking lot because that's pretty much what it is; large parking spaces with hookups. But if that's what you need, you're all set. Bill
We stayed at Cane Creek State Park campground in Waxhaw. It was during the week in November. Sites are decent size for Class A 34' and car. We had a lakefront (about 50' from the lake) no one in between us and the lake with full hook up. During the summer on weekends and holiday weekends it may get a bit crowded, it was quiet when we were there.
Last December we stayed at a Passport America park that was very close to Charlotte. Here's the link: http://www.passport-america.com/campground...e_aire_rv_park/ It wasn't anything special except for the muscovy ducks but it did the trick! Sandra
Just south of Charlotte in Rock Hill, SC, check out Ebenezer State Park. $10 a night for full hookups for senior citizens. $15 otherwise. A very nice park on a lake with boating, fishing. restrooms. We just overnighted there earlier this month. Would be a great 1-2 week stay place. I think it does have a two week limit. Doug and Cassi
