Hi all, We have a 2008 Monaco Knight. We are connected to 50 amp service. After several hours of the airconditioner running the circuit breaker will trip. Any help will be appreciated. If additional information is needed, let me know. Thanks so much!
Your A/C is drawing too many amps and may be getting ready to quit and be replaced. Alternatively, you may have a bad circuit breaker that needs to be replaced. That rules out the AC units. I would shut down the power at power post and open up the AC power panel and check to see if you have any loose wire coming in from 50 amp service, check all the joints. Also look at the 50 amp power cable head to see if you see burn places or pins that are not clean. If you do have joints that are not clean the amps will go up and that will pop the circuit breaker.

With your Knight, it should be impossible to trip the breaker at a 50 amp site. To trip the 50 amp park breaker you would need to run a continuous load of more than 40 amps on one leg. If the Knight is like other Monaco coaches, the electric hot water and the microwave are on separate legs, and the convenience outlets are will trip the breaker inside the motorhome if you try to run more than 15 amps through them. There is something wrong at the park's power pedestal. Probably just a worn out, weak breaker.
Is it a circuit breaker inside your Knight or is it the breaker at the RV pedestal? It sure sounds like a line has come loose inside your breaker panel if the problem is in your breaker box. If it is at the pedestal, see if it happens at another park. If it doesn't it was a problem with the park, if it does, it is probably a loose connection in your plug or the main line at your breaker box.
If you are talking about the circuit breaker in the RV distribution panel, then the next thing is to check your voltage. If the voltage is low to an alternating current motor, the result is that it will draw higher current. When that happens it could cause it to trip the circuit breaker. Since both air conditioners do this, it makes me wonder if that may be the problem. An RV air conditioner usually has a current draw of about 13 to 15A. It most likely has a 20A circuit breaker so it would take a significant drop in voltage to cause that big an increase in current draw.
