Did you know that by wiring 2 6Volt Deep Cycle batteries in-series (creating 1 big 12Volt Battery) gets over 3 times more run time then conventional 12Volt Deep Cycle Batteries? They are made of a different type of lead in their plates.

2-6Volt batteries are like having 6-12Volt conventional Deep cycle batteries.

4-6Volt Batteries aer like having 12-12Volt conventional Deep cycle batteries.

6-6Volt Batteries aer like having 18-12Volt conventional Deep cycle batteries.

Most motorhomes will have the 6 volt batteries. We have two 8D Gel batteries that are rated at 255 amps X 8 hours or 510 amps total per set of batteries. Weight in at 192 lbs each and will run everything in motorhome for two days (48 hours) before the need to recharge. No water to check, long life like 5 to 8 years of service, down side is high cost. Nice to have power at hand all the time as we travel.

Still not as good. 1-8D battery is physically the size as 3 Group 27 12 volt deep cycle batteries. Having 2-8D's is like having 6 Group 27 12 volt deep cycle batteries. Your reserve capacity is about 1,000 minnutes and the cost for 2-8D batteries is about $600.

Had 6-6Volt deep cycle Golf Cart (GC) been used (2 each in series) you would have a RESERVE CAPACITY 3 TIMES GREATER, OR APROXIMATELY 3,000 MINNUTES reserve capacity.

You can see these ratings in these links. http://www.interstatebatteries.com/content...rine_f.asp?js=1

Measure it all out nd add it all up. GC batteries are made from a diffent type of lead and better plates.

Look again. Batteries are "Gel" Batteries. We did a test on each battery and found output was 1680 CC amps per 8D or 3360 amps total per two. Flood cells will not rate up this high. Deep cycle batteries are not the same as Gel cells. :p
