I was amazed at how different our experience was at the Durango Riverside RV park from the 2 posted 2 months later. We had a wonderful time and great experience. Should I assume that the park has fallen apart and avoid it next year or go on our experience. We only started camping last year and really are novices.
The last time we were in Durango this park was close down and it looked like a dump to me. It was an old KOA from the past years. Sites on river were small and may be hard to get a large unit in and out of. Durango has some nice campgrounds. A number are on Hwy 550 like this one. If you were in a tent or popup then it would be OK I think. One more downside, park is a long ways north of Durango. If you never plan to go out to eat, buy anything, or do anything this park would work. Look at all campgrounds on this website and then pick one. Ride the steam train up to Sliverton and back down to see the San Juan Mountains range. Great views of CO mountains.
