Last year we spent January on the edge of Naples and visited dog friendly beaches at Bonita Springs and Venice (we have two labs). This January we would like to stay much closer to a dog friendly beach. Does anyone have suggestions for a good dog friendly park that is close to dog friendly beaches? We would like to be fairly far south in Florida, but are flexible as to which coast. We are new to RVing and this will only be our second major trip with our travel trailer, which was bought so that we could take our pets! Your thoughts and suggestions would be most welcome.
Sue, Tons of places to stay down here and I would pick a numbers of parks. E-mail parks and ask about the dogs, size and weight. I think by Jan. you could find one that you like. Park people will also help on the beach problem. Some places you can take dogs and some places you can not. Some people do not clean up mess from dogs so everyone has a problem. At one time all state parks were closed to dogs, may be open now. You have time to get this information.
Not sure if this far enough South for you, but we stay at Long Point Park in Brevard County regularly and like it very much. Dog friendly, approx. 1/2 mile from Atlantic Ocean. Most sites are on the water (Intracoastal Waterway). Operated by Brevard County, located in Sebastian, and rates are reasonable. Not much if any shade here but proximity to water more than makes up for that for us. Website: http://www.brevardparks.com/rv_tent/longpoint.htm Have fun!
