We plan to drive from Montrose, CO to Pueblo, CO on highway 50 pulling a fifth wheel. Can anyone tell us if this route can be navigated easily with a fifth wheel?
Will need a lot of HP power due to mountains roads but should not be a problem. Monarch pass is 11,312 feet and will take some fuel to get over it. Hwy 50 is all scenic and the mountains are beautiful to look at. Drive slow and remember there is no prize for the first one down the hill. Use a lower gear on all down hill runs and you will be OK. We drove our motorhome with tow car from Durango north on Hwy 50 to Montrose and then on north to Grand Junction with no problems. This road has two high passes, one at 11,008 feet. Need to use care as no guard rails on parts of road and if you make a mistake over the side you go.

I did that route this last August 1 I have a fifth wheel had no problems on any of the route took Monarch pass. You should have no trouble. For mountain pass it is real rv friendly.
It's not a bad route. Monarch Pass is a little steep. Just take it slow on the downgrade. A good rule of thumb is to go down the same speed you went up. And use your engine/transmission (gear down) to slow yourself down, not your brakes. The rest of the trip is very scenic.
