We are looking for a new area to check out this year. We would like to go the first week of September to maybe finger lakes or lake George. We have a toy hauler and like to bring motorcycles so we would like some areas to ride. Any thoughts?? Thanks

Thanks HI Brenda and Jim We stay near Lake George quite frequently and love the area. After Labor Day is a great time to visit the Adirondack Park. We ride and there are some nice areas to do this in. Se stay in a private campground (River Road) in Corinth NY which is about 20 minutes south of Lake George. And have stayed at others in the area...Warrensburgh is also a nice area just north of LG with many campgrounds. Day drives up to Lake Placid, Old Forge and Scroon Lake are always nice. Let me know if there are specific campgrounds that look interesting to you and maybe I can help Christina

We thought maybe it would be warmer. We r also checking out Watkins glen area. The KOA and Hickory Hill. Lake George is a 6 hour drive and the finger lakes would be about 4. With gas going up we might have to stay closer. Thanks for any insight you can give us.

Thanks Hi, we stayed at the Hickory Hills Family Camping Resort in Bath, NY in the fall of 2010. It was a very nice placed to stay and visit the Lake Keuka area and Hammondsport, NY. Many wineries in Hammondsport and a very nice town. They have a sea plane fly in aroun that time of the year which we found interesting. Also easy drive over to Corning and Watkins Glen. Some nice places to eat in downtown Bath. We left there and went to Lake George. Stayed at the LG Resort. Also nice place kind of pricey. Timed it right for the annual wooden boat regata and the LG Balloon Festival both around the end of September.

We live 38 miles south of Lake George. There are many campgrounds in the area and after labor day the rates per day drop, the summer season is over. Kids back to school and many retired/older people travel & camp (Rv) at this time of year, as it's less crowded, but we do not normally use these local Cgs...to close to home. With the price of fuel going up, many will stay closer to home or will not travel at all.
