Would like to stop at Gulpha Gorge on our way home from Grand Isle SP, LA and wondering what the odds of getting a site for a Friday & Saturday first full week of May. They do not take reservations and we really liked the park when we were there several years ago. Or do you think our odds would be better if we tried for Sat & Sun. Just can't get there before Friday. Any thoughts or predictions? Or also plan for an alternative location, just in case? And that would be where?
I would say your odds are good. We were there for a couple of weeks in early 2020 (just as the pandemic hit). We planned on riding the "storm" out for a while as sites were nicely spaced and there were a lot of empty sites. We did end up heading back to Canada a lot earlier that we wanted to but that's a different story. We too, really liked this park. The town of Hot Springs is a nice place to visit. One day, we will go back. Oh, and the seniors discount makes for an economical place to stay as well. I hope you find a nice site by the creek and enjoy your stay. As for an alternative, We did not stay at any other parks. Sorry Darrell and Jerry
