WE are going to be camping near Jackson, NJ in order to enjoy 6 Flags Great Adventure duing Memorial Day weekend 2005. There are a few CG's in the area. We have 2 teenage boys that will be bringing friends and we are looking for a nice CG that has activities for the boys when we are not at Great Advent.

    Any suggestions with details?

    Thanks...Ken B)

If you will look on this site, under RV Park Reviews, you will find two campgrounds near Jackson, NJ, that have been reviewed--Maple Lake Campground and Tip Tam Camping Resort. :( :(

Has anyone stayed at Timberland Lake CG in Jackson, NJ? I am considering staying there and was wondering what type of campground it is. Are there activities for teenage kids, condition of park etc...

    Thanks.

Some highly rated campgrounds in Jackson, NJ are Butterfly Camping Resort (www.butterflycamp.com), Indian Rock RV Resort (www.indianrockresort.com), Timberland Lake Campground (www.timberlandlakecampground.com), and Tip Tam Camping Resort (www.tiptam.com). All are family-oriented and have lots of activities; both Timberland and Butterfly accomodate pull-throughs.

Thanks Newbie. We just booked Tip Tam CG. Do you have direct knowledge of the campground?

How is it for activities? I have two teenage boys and a 10 year old.

While I haven't been to Tip Tam, the usually reliable and independent "Frommer's Best RV & Tent Campgrounds in the USA" gives it a high 4 stars (out of a possible 5, with 5 star ratings being rare) in the areas of beauty, quiet, cleanliness, facilities, and overall camping experience, while rating it relatively low in the areas of site privacy (1 star) and site spaciousness (2 stars); notes that "children are kept happy with swimming races, scavenger and treasure hunts, mini-golf tournaments, coloring contests, team trivia matches, children's olympics, [and] candy bar bingo;" and states that the facility includes an amphitheater, game room, 2 rec halls, 2 pools, mini-golf, volleyball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, and basketball, and offers discount tickets to Six Flags.

Thanks Larry. Since I don't have Frommers, this was helpful.

    Good camping!
