A few months ago someone (but I can't remember who) posted that they were planning a trip to Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I'm wondering if you ever made that trip and how things were there. We love that area and have wondered if it is ready for visitors (in RV's). Please let us know how your trip went.

    Update

After searching through all the discussion topics I have finally found out that it was "boater" who said he/she was going to the gulf coast near Biloxi. How about it, boater? Did you ever get there and what was it like? Are there any good RV places around? We would love to go back, but didn't know if the area had recovered yet.

    boater here
we did make the trip got back yesterday. we stayed at bay saint louis in the hollywood casino rv park. very nice. concrete pads, 24 hour security bus back and forth to casino. park was very neat, clean, quiet. all you c ould ask. we paid 27 per day for full hookup.
The area is still a mess, but many restaurants and business are open. generally ther roads and public areas are cleaned up. many homes are being rebuilt, but still a lot of fema trailers. Biloxi along the water isessentially gone, all the old homes we remembered are gone, but most of the rubble is cleaned up and they are rebuilding. there were about 10 casinos in the area open for business, most were taking reservations for rooms. the rv parks except for the one we stayed in are full of fema trailers, but i guess they have some rental spaces available.
overall the area is welcoming visitors and everyone seemed to go out of their way to make you feel glad yu visited.

after we left bay saint louis we went on to navarre fl. that area was open for business but still had damage from storm two years ago. but nice place ,

Id say go . you will be glad you did.

Thanks for checking in and giving us your report. We're glad to hear the RV park at the Hollywood Casino is up and running again. It was our favorite in the area when it was Casino Magic. That is so tragic about the homes along there in Bay St. Louis, Pass Christain, Gulfport and Biloxi. We spent a lot of time looking at them the last time we were there--just before Katrina. I'm just so glad we got to see them before then were destroyed. Unfortunately though I lost all the pictures I took of them due to a computer crash. We had thought we might try to go back to that area in Feb. or Mar. next year, so it is good to know they can handle visitors. We get bunches of offers from the casinos, but they want us to stay in their hotels so we weren't sure about the RV situation. We're glad to hear you had a good trip, and thanks again for letting us know.
