Hi All, I'm new to this forum, but not new to camping, nor rving. We live in Wisconsin and have had it with the cold and snow (although today we have a heat wave, 35.) We're planning a trip to the Pensacola to go to the air museum, sit on the beach, poke around any historical sites, etc. We're having a heck of a time really identifying a good place to stay. We have a 30' Keystone Trailer with a large bump out and probably need full hookups. What is important to us is elbow room, easy access and departure and most of all not in a noisy or bad location such as railroad tracks, interstate highways, gunfights, and all those kinds of things we have run across in the past. So, if you might have a suggestion for us we would appreciate it. Thanks,
First off welcome to the site and we hope you find nice places to visit. On home page (MAP) you need to click on FL them Pensacola, this will open up a number of campgrounds in and around city. Also check Milton, Fort Walton Beach, and Gulf Breeze. Numbers of places to pick from. Read all the comments on each campground and look at rating other RV people have sent in before you pick one. You should have no problems at all. Keep in mind two campgrounds in Pensacola are of military people only. Send in your review at end of your stay. Sorry to hear about the cold air you have, so warm down here we need a fan to cool off.
Florida has some great state parks which normally have very large sites. Usually don't have dumps at the site or TV, but these can be overcome. Usualy they have a 14 day limit. If you are over 65, then you can get half off the normal price of $15 or so dollars. They usuall have lots of interesting things to do. By utilizing the ath houses which are usually large and nice, you can etend your stay to have the dump station only not be a problem. Kids can sometimes be a problem.
Thanks so much for the responses. We have had such an adventure trying to locate a place to stay we're changing our destination to Charleston, S.C. and are staying at one of the finest KOA's in the country. We've stayed there before and agree with the 2008 President's and Founder's award for this one. Again, thanks for the responses, we will be back. We are Retired and Loving It!
if you want a cheap, quiet place to stay outside of pensacola there is Lake Stone a escambia county run park the price is 14 per night and is very clean, we stayed there from april thru aug last year and again a few weeks ago. the only bad thing is it does not have sewer hook up but there is 2 dump stations and everyone uses the portable holding tanks. we have stayed other places but for the price and the quiet i love Lake Stone
