    Hi all,

We are palnning a trip through New York this August. We would like to hit Niagra Falls and the Adirondacks. Any suggestions on campgrounds in those areas? So far, we are considering Letchworth State Park and Henderson Harbor. Any info on favorite spots near Lake Placid and Lake George?

Any info would really be appreciated.

    Jane

In the Lake George area, we have heard great things about the Lake George Schroon Valley Resort (website: www.lakegeorgecamping.com), and are planning to camp there in June with our five kids and another family. Frommer's Guide to America's Best Campgrounds rates it very high in facilities, activities, and security. Incidentally, the Frommer's Guide is perhaps the best resource we have found for locating and evaluating campgrounds (other than this site, of course!).

The Lake George RV Park in Lake George is top notch. Only problem is that it is so spread out and large that you need to either catch a tram or drive a car to most of its features. Another negative is their ridiculous fees for wi-fi. But, on balance, a very, very nice park that would be among the top five in the northeast. :D
