Sorry all I know its pretty ordinary in terms of weather over there at the moment so I thought I would give you a bit of a January holiday Australian style.
The location is called Sawtel, its a small seaside town about halfway between Brisbane and Sydney and is lovely.

There is a rail bridge straight through the middle that takes the trains between Sydney and Brisbane.

On top of that Sawtell has an amazing old main street with an old cinema and plenty of Coffee shops and amazing restuarants.

Nearby in a place called Coffs Harbour there is a porpoise pool where you can interact with both Dolphins and Penguins.

The township is beautiful in December 2015 all the local businesses and some local families banded together to open the cinemas.

I could smell the popcorn in that theater lobby!!! Really great pics Jason. I mentioned Coff's Harbor in your other posting, did you by chance make a stop there along the way? Now then if I could only figure out how to get our motorhome down under, we'd be following that route you just took......

PS: That Gowanna looks more like a monitor lizard to me. You Aussies have a way of coming up with the neatest names. Took me a while to figure it out when someone told me they were "crook" from too much "walkabout" time............. :D

    Cheers Mate..............Terry

I "Google-Earthed" that area and it seems that I passed right thru Sawtell when I made that driving trip from Melbourne to Brisbane. Really neat area and one that I would definitely visit again should I ever get back to Australia. Love that "Boat A Home" by the way. What a way to dry land and water camp with the same RV. I've seen some huge Class A motorhomes that have been converted into that type of vehicle but the average RVer can't afford the price of admission on one of those............

Hey Jack - Do you realize that you could put the state of Texas into the outback of Australia and it would be lost from view? I believe that Ayers Rock is bigger than Texas but I may be mistaken, It might only be as big as California..........??? :D

No Ayers Rock, but we do have a "sacred" monolith of pink granite, a batholith named Enchanted Rock south of Llano, Tx. It covers 640acres and rises 425feet. There is a State Park where you can climb it or walk its circumference. You can also camp there. After baking in the sun all day, it cools at night and the granite can be heard to groan as it contracts. The Indians interpreted this as the gods talking.

When ever you think there is nothing in West Texas, an armadillo scoots by just to prove you wrong. They are faster than you thought, but just as ugly.

Yep, you're off a bit about the size of Ayers Rock. It's only 2.2 miles long and 1.2 miles wide.

Agreed, Armadillos are ugly alright but were you aware that in Australia they have what is called the Green Didgereedoo. A ferocious lizard like creature with long fangs and two tongues that dart in and out of each side of it's mouth. If it see you on the trail it will come after you making this loud swooshing sound with both it's tongues. Then is when the real fun begins because you either have to stand your ground and make swooshing sounds back so it thinks you are its friend, or it will tear you to pieces thinking you are an invader coming to take its territory away. Nasty little critters these Green Didgereedoos. By the way Jason, if you're reading this you'll back me up on this won't you mate?

I was only trying to yank Jack's chain. I've been to Ayer's Rock and your stats are correct. It is one hellova big chuck of rock however and a tad bigger in all directions than Enchanted Rock in Texas. Love to joke around with them Texans. They be a good bunch when you get to know'em...:D
