We'll be spending about a week on Washington's Olympic Peninsula in September. We'd like to hear about any good campgrounds, restaurants, or things we really shouldn't miss while we're there.
Please make sure you see Port Townsend which is a charming ole' fishing town. A lot of history and great ole' buildings. If you can get in to Sequim by Port Angeles there is a place called the "Olympic Game Farm" you can drive thru in your car and animals, buffalo, Lalmas, etc come right up to you. You can purchase or bring your own stale bread to feed them. Kids and adults alike will have a great time. Drive down Hwy 101 I think it is along the coast and you will have fantastic views of the ocean and many campgrounds to choose from along the way. Ocean Shores and Westport and nice for first time vistors. I don't know about any resturants.
HI,when you are in Port Townsend you'll want to stay at either Fort Worden S.P. or at Port Hudson Marina and RV Park. Both are on the Water,in fact at Port Hudson there are sites that are 50' from the water.I would also suggest the Sequim-Port Angeles KOA ,which is between the two towns.That pretty much covers the top of the peninsula. On the ocean side are a couple of Olympic N.PsCGs and a couple of state parks. Check at Forks and Lake Quinalt.I would also suggest looking into Klaloch CG as I think that you can get most rigs in there ,but no hook-ups..
Be sure to go to Sequim, WA. Check out Gwennies resturant, great breakfasts.... If you are into a nice 'walk ' or hike, go to Lake Ozette. Two trails to the beach, all 'boardwalk'.......three miles out to beach, wildlife, mussels and deer. Great hiking day trip. There is also a campground at trailhead, don't know those details...... jermac
Hi, we live on the Olympic Peninsula so we seldom camp here. It is beautiful though, and a great place to visit. For best weather, plan your trip in late June, July, Aug or Sept. (they don't call it a rain forest without reason!!!) A few favorite places of ours are Lake Quinault, Ruby Beach and the Hoh River valley. There is a very nice Forest Service campground at Willaby Creek on Lake Quinault with sites right on the lake,. But be advised, it is definitely not suitable for larger RV's. Also recommend as a nice stopover on way to/from the OP...Friend's Landing in Montesano WA. This is a very nice park on the Chehalis River. If you are from an urban location, you will be amazed at the rugged beauty of Olympic Peninsula. Snow-capped mountains, forested valleys with rushing rivers, incredibly beautiful beaches....you will not be disappointed!
Go to kllaloch good place to camp. If you visit the Hood Canal stay at Seal rock Nat Forest Camp g. right on the beach
