We got right at 5.5" of rainfall in the past 24 hours. So much rain that this morning I had to dig out the four pontoon attachments for the motorhome and attach them so we will be able to float our way out of town on the newly formed river that is now what once was the main drag in town. Had a bear of a time getting them on but after several hours and four air pumps going full blast, we are set to go. Now the term hoist in the anchor really will apply this next trip................ No rain here in upstate NY. We are expecting a little 3-6" dusting of snow overnight, but that's not enough to stop anyone from going anywhere. It is more than enough to make me look forward to our early January departure for Florida though!
Heh! 3-6" of snow up here is barely over sweeping with a broom depth. If it's the heavy wet stuff though, that calls for pulling out the real shovels.

Heavens no, we just have inflatable pontoons that attach to and cover most of each wheel via a series of heavy duty clips. When we are driving along and we find ourselves going into an area that is flooded, and the water reaches about 1/3rd the way up the wheels, I push four buttons on the dash and four big onboard air pumps do their thing. Next thing we know we are floating off down the road. When the water subsides I let the air out of each pontoon and we are back to using the tires again. How do we power our forward and rearward motion you ask? Each pontoon has a front and rear high pressure air outlet. I have it rigged so the air comes in at the same rate that it goes out so we get forward or rear motion while the pontoons remain inflated. As for stopping or backing up I simply push four more buttons that reverse the air flow in each pontoon from the rear outlets to the front outlets via a series of ingenious interconnected tubes inside each pontoon. The two forward pontoons are of course steerable by the front wheels and tires. You get the idea I hope. Nothing elaborate, just good old "hill folk ingenuity"............. In the past you have talked about traveling with seven dogs, three cats, a small pygmy goat, one lone Iguana lizard, Little Stinky the skunk, a parrot, the Burmese python, four pet raccoons, Charlie the Chimp, a pot bellied pig, and the grandpigs. So now when you inflate the pontoons, your RV turns into an ark.

We had a squadron of "Pregnant Guppies" on board our Flattop the entire 4 years I was aboard. Got to take ride in a few during that time and it was a blast. And no we weren't near the Russian River, we were out on the Meadow Vista River..........
