Has anyone stayed at the RV park in Pacific City,Oregon ?We are going in May of 2006 and would like to hear from anyone who has any information.
I live about 20 miles north of Lincoln City. While I have never stayed in the campground, I have actually driven through it. It seemed pleasant enough, although if memory serves me correctly, the roads in it were perhaps a wee bit narrow. It's right near Devil's Lake and a short drive to town and the local Indian casino. To get to the CG you will have to drive on Route 101 which can be somewhat busy in the Lincoln City area (it's the main road through town). Incidentally, if you get the chance, you might want to consider visiting Pacific City. It's just up the road from Lincoln City and is also right on the ocean. There are three campgrounds directly next to each other (two private owned and one owned by the county) right across from the beach.
OK, I'm a complete idiot. I misread your question and thought you wanted information about LINCOLN City, not PACIFIC City. The CG in Pacific City I can tell you a fair amount about. I'm assuming you're referring to Cape Kiwanda R.V. Park. I lived there for about a year and a half, before they decided they didn't want permanent residents anymore. The park, as I mentioned in my other posting, is directly across from the beach. The owners just spent mucho dinero on a new clubhouse/store/pool building in the front of the property. It just opened about two weeks ago. I haven't been inside it so I can't comment on the interior. The park itself is nice. It isn't super-fancy, although the new building should upgrade the place. No, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the CG; it's just not super-deluxe, that's all. It is directly across the street from the beach parking lot and a restaurant/microbrewery. Is there anything specific you would like to know about the town or the area?
Hi Cranky!!! I have a relative who lives in Portland and she put me on to the CG in Pacific City but she had no details.I'm assuming they have full hookups.Do you know if the take reservations?Also do they have a website?BTW I have ate at the restaurant across the street.....the food and spirits are great. Any other information on the park would be appreciated.....thanks for the post.
No problem, montana. Yes, they have a website. I just checked to make sure it was still operational. It's at http://capekiwandarvpark.com. According to it, most of the sites are full hookup, with 50 amp service available. Yes, it seems that they do take reservations. You should visit the site for all the information. From a new sign on the top of the front wall, I learned the other day that they are going to turn their old building into a pizza parlor. I hope the pie is good as that is something that is sorely needed around here. If you've eaten at the restaurant/microbrewery across the street, then you know how convenient the RV park is to the beach (directly across the street). When you get to town, if you want another place to eat, consider The Sportmans bar in town (next to the Shell station at the blinking light). It doesn't look like much from the outside (or on the inside either, come to think of it) but the food, especially the fried chicken, is really good. It's a real working man's kind of place, so if you're not comfortable with that, just call ahead and get some food to go. I LOVE the chicken and my wife and daughter swear by the burritos. Pacific City is a small town, so don't expect a lot of fancy stuff. The local supermarket is perfectly adequate but hardly Big City level. I have to laugh when I see tourists, obviously from urban areas, looking down their noses at the selection in the store. Sheesh, what did you expect in a town of about a thousand people? I'm from New York City, but I know better than to expect a huge selection of gourmet stuff in a little town. Who would buy it? Duh. If you need something electronic in an emergency, there's a Radio Shack dealer in town (across the street from the supermarket). It *is* a Dealer, though, which means that it isn't a company-owned store and the prices are usually higher than in a company-owned store. The upside, though, is that they are free to carry any non-Radio Shack items they want. There's also a hardware store, under new (and friendlier) management in town. I'm probably making Pacific City sound like it's in the middle of nowhere. Well, it kind of is, actually, although if you can drive about twenty miles north or south, you can get just about anything you could need in Tillamook (north) or Lincoln City (south).
