 Are we the only ones to follow the directions to this campground on the Holston River 7 miles out of Abingdon, Virginia. Yes, it is advertised in Trailer Life as Virginia finest campground and yes, it received high ratings as a Good Sam Park but let me tell you the access road to this park is a nightmare. It is a one lane road and I dont mean one lane in each direction. No place to pull off and absolutely no place to turn around. If you meet somebody on this road you are in big trouble. When we got there we did not want to look forward to going back down that road in the morning so we turned around in the campground and left.

    Hoffman,

We have found places like this before and wrote them off in our books. One place in NC was so bad we had to take the tow car off and use 2-way radios so the car could check the road ahead in order to get back on main road. Thanks for the tip!

Any resemblance between the Good Sam/Trailer Life rating and reality is totally coincidental. The folks who do these ratings are still stuck in a time warp and think everybody is driving a car with a tent packed in the trunk. Their ratings in no way reflect concerns and issues of folks who pull large travel trailers or drive large motorhomes. Stick with the comments in RVParkReviews and you can't go wrong!
