does anyone have information on campgdrounds near aiken, south carolina. aiken rv park and palmetto lake rv park. any info will be a help thanks boater
We have not stayed at any of the private parks in Aiken, but we have stayed at Aiken State Park (I think the official name is Aiken state natural area). It is about 10-15 miles from Aiken, and an interesting place. It is not a highly used SC state park, so it is never crowded. Most of the sites are easily accessible. The camping area is in the pine forest area of the park. The sites are level and have picnic tables and fire rings. I believe there are pull throughs available, too. The bath houses are typical state park bh in that they are dated, but they are immaculately clean. The staff is not very busy with guests, and they seemed to keep everything in very good condition. There are 4 lakes in the park with picinic areas on the lakes, and access to the Edisto River where you can rent canoes. This would be a great place to camp if you enjoy a natural setting and don't need cable/wi-fi...not to mention the economic factor. Hope this helps.
