I am trying to plan a trip next summer to Wyoming and Montana. I have found all the parks I want to stay at on the way and at our destinations except at Glacier National Park and a stopover park near Kansas City. Concerning Glacier, I can't decide to stay on the east or west side coming from Yellowstone. Can anyone help?
I wiould recommend you stay on the west side of the park--more facilities there. As to parks, without question, the best of the best is the North Amerian RV Park in Coram. Great location and wonderful people. You can find their reviews on this site.
Thank you for the info on Glacier. I will check out the park. By the way, how do you like your Newmar? Have you had any problems?
We stayed at North American RV Park in Coram Montana last summer. It is a very good park in a very good location. We would stay there again when at Glacier. Read the reviews. They are correct.
Mastercraft: We like our Newmar fine. A well-built, sturdy coach with ons exception: The automatic, electric A&E awnings are not worth killing. I plan to replace them with manual awnings at the end of this year.They have broken seven times in three years. Terrible product.
Do you know anything about St Louis or Kansas City? I have looked at the reviews and cannot find a park with consistant good reviews. These are the only two stops that I have no idea where to stay. The stay in Kansas City is a stopover on the way out West, but the stay in St Louis will be for at least 2 nights. Anyone have ideas? This is the first long trip I have planned and I need all the help I can get. I am traveling out to Wyoming and Montana with 3 kids ( one is a golden retriever that will be 18 months.

We have stayed at the Casino Queen RV Park in East St. Louis Illinois several times. It is a very convenient location for sightseeing in St. Louis via the Metro Link which is within walking distance of the park. You can go a lot of places without taking a car and fighting the traffic and finding a parking space. I really didn't understand some of the negative reviews. Our sites have always been long level pull thrus large enough for our 39 foot motorhome and tow car. Also, have had no problem finding the park by following the directions in the Trailer Life Directory. A lot of the negative reviews were about train noise. That did not bother us. I don't know how much there is for kids to do at the park, but St. Louis is only a train ride away. The park is quite a ways from the casino (but within walking distance or a shuttle ride), so that would be no problem with kids.
Thanks for the input. I was considering the Casino park due to the ease of the pull throughs and the fact that we will probably be sightseeing the whole time in St Louis.
mastercraft, We also vote for Casino Queen RV Park. We have been to this park numbers of times and never had a problem due to anything. At one time park would feed you breakfast free each day. We never use the casino, only the park. You can pick up local train (at park) into St. Louis for $4 per person and ride all day. We tour all over St. Louis, bus rides are also free with this same pass. Drivers will help you find any place in city you wish to go. Stop off at old train station and them the zoo, all free. In Kansas City look at Independence, MO and check out The Campus RV Park. This place is mins. from KC and very nice. Park is full most of the time as more people find out about it. Independence is full of stuff to see and tour. Bar-Q over in KC is great. I need to plan a trip up to eat some more Bar-Q soon.
John, Thank you for the insight. I was considering the Campus RV park, but the pictures seemed outdated. Do you know any good BBQ places in KC? With your info, I now have my itinerary filled out. My destination campgrounds are Colter Bay at the Grand Tetons, Grizzly at Yellowstone, North American at Glacier, Rafter J Bar Ranch at Mount Rushmore. Thanks to everyone who helped
mastercraft, Start with Arthur Bryant's not to far from RV park, link below. Arthur Bryant's I can not remember the great place downtown in KC, very good but cost more. People in park can tell you how to get over to Arthur's place. Down Hwy. 24 into east side of KC, short trip. Do not eat much for a day before you go. I think everything that people order comes out in lbs. of meat. Place is not much to look at but Arthur's Bar-Q makes the different. Use The Original one.
