So a change from Bush camping I thought I would do a report on some of the other camping types we do. Bush Camping, with no power or amenities, is a bit of different fun for us. Generally I take my 2 sons and we go out to Queensland's Scenic Rim with is South West of and about 2 hours from Brisbane. Formed from an extinct volcano the Scenic Rim is a holiday destination in its own right and very beautiful. http://www.visitscenicrim.com.au/ We stay at a place called Camp Lakefire and explore from there. The camp is on the Maroon Dam, a man made water structure, that is a recreation area. View to our camp site (First visit a few years back) Right on the water (That's our previous van and car....we ungraded LOL) Not a bad morning outlook Boys doing what boys do! we had about 10 little blokes on this trip and they had a ball! A few beers, a fire and dinner cooked in Camp ovens on the fire.
We all have different camping styles. I thought I would show a some different types our group has used. There is basic, in this case my good mate with his swag in the back of a ute. This one is a 1960's ex Australian Army landrover trailer converted to a camp trailer. Up to my setup which the boys call "Glamping" or Glamour Camping but hey I am roughing it. my coffee maker doesn't work LOL
Near this camp is an area known as the Condamine River Road. Its a valley that you can basically drive in one end and drive out the other crossing the Condamine River 14 times. Imaginarily called the 14 Crossings Drive (Australians not renowned for Imaginative names) One of the first crossings Campsite outlook Happy set up! I have put the whole report together from our last few trips we actually just took swags and tents on this one. View to one side of the valley these are on both sides as you make the crossings. Also you can head out to a place called Queen Mary Falls right near the Queensland/New South Wales border. The view back across the Scenic Rim as you climb towards the falls. You walk across the top of the falls from here...... To get to see this Just had an overnight on the way home you head through the little country town of Boonah for a Coffee/soft drink and a curried pie. bit damp..... The Boonah clock made by local artisans only a few years ago. One of the towns old Pubs in the background. Thanks for checking out my latest report.
Thanks @NYDutch I think i'll add my Fraser Island trip report next. Not positive the site administrators wont kick me off though as its not exactly USA reports.
I think in honor of you Jason the admins should add Australia to the RVPR home page! love the pics, especially the beer & camp cooking one! Mike
Once again, my "Croc Dundee Hat" is off to you mate. More great pics and some mouthwatering talk about food & drink in the outdoors, how much "mo betta" can it get than that............... Terry
