    :D Hello,
Does anyone know a great campground for us to stay at that has excellent snorkling near by. My kids (15, 13 & 8) have never done this before and have picked this activity for our vacation this year. We live in Ohio so the Keys are too far. We will be traveling in our Fifth Wheel.

If you could give me some ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you,
    Ohio Family Travelers

    Hi Ohio Family,

The nearest place for snorkling would be Fathom Five National Marine Park at the end of the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. It has a great worldwide reputation for snorkling because of the numerous shipwrecks, some only a few feet under water. Also, the water is extremely clear, with a glass bottom boat one can see 100 feet and more. Google maps gives me 335 miles from Toledo, Ohio to Tobermory, the town nearby.

    Here are two links:

    The official Parks Canada site:
    http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/amnc-nmca/on/fathomfive/index.aspx

    The Wikipedia page:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fathom_Five_N...nal_Marine_Park

Nearby camping is at Bruce Peninsula National Park:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Peninsula_National_Park
    http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/on/bruce/index.aspx

More campgrounds are on campgroundreviews.com under Tobermory, Ontario, Canada, or on the website of the Ontario Private Campgrounds Association:
http://www.campgrounds.org/ then click on search campgrounds, area maps, Grey/Bruce

Be advised that this is a very popular area and in the summer reservations are a must. Also, even though this is Canada, it does not snow or freeze in Tobermory in summer, the daytime high end of July beginning of August is around 72 to 80ยบ F. ;-)

    Have fun planning!

Well I guess a couple places I've taken our kids in San Diego, California are out of the question...?
    Happy Snorkeling!
