I am looking for a secluded camp ground off the beaten path around Gatlinburg, Seveirville areas. I will be "camping" in a 36ft motor home. I don't need extras just basic hook ups but I would like to see the country/mountains and not the backside of another motor home. thanks for any help!
I highly recommentd Elkmont campground http://www.nps.gov/grsm/pphtml/camping.html no hookups....but a great place to be.
The parks in Townsend are the most secluded and closest the the National Park. We have stayed at Tremont Hills in Townsend. They parks in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are pretty typical RV resorts and the sights are pretty tight.
Townsend is definitely the quite side of the Smokies. I have stayed at Little River Village and Big Meadow. Both would meet your criteria. These parks are about two miles from the "Y" entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Have fun!
