We'll be at Lake Tahoe in late May or early June and are scouting parks.

Has anyone stayed at the Sandy Beach Campground at Tahoe Vista? I can't find any reviews of it on this site. We have a 28 foot fifth wheel and would want W/E. We also like low-key quiet parks (i.e., no train and minimal traffic noise)...don't need the game room or playground, etc. We are also considering the Campground-by-the-Lake in South Tahoe, although reports on this site talk about traffic noise as a problem there.

Any experiences with either of these parks would be appreciated....or info on any others in that general area of Nevada. Thanks. MaineDon

MaineDon...I think I know of the campground at Tahoe Vista and if not mistaken, it is next to Hwy 50 and so it will be noisey. So is Campground by the Lake, just across Hwy 50 from the lake so noisey there too. I could be wrong and I haven't researched these two campgrounds, just recalling what I observed last summer. We camped at Zephyr Cove Marina and RV Resort on the east side just north of the casinos. It was ok, older with tight roads and camp sites. It too is just off the Hwy 50 so always get road noise. I had trouble with the tight roads in the campground and the tall pines right next to the roads and sites with my travel trailer but your 5th wheel should handle it better. I drove up Hwy 89 on the west side and checked out Bliss State Park and Sugar Pine Point State Park and both of those are big with a lot of options and over on that side of the lake, not as noisey. May/June, you may have kids out of school and might have families camping everywhere you plan to camp in this area. I believe there is a KOA west of South Lake Tahoe off the 50 as well and it is a few miles from the lake so not as much road noise. The positives about Zephyr Cove is that there is a very handy restaraunt just across the street with great food for breakfast and the marina is right there, quite picturesque, and if you like the casinos, just a few minutes drive. Hope this helps, happy camping!

Thanks, OJeff for your help. I guess we'll stick with our original plan of C-by-the-Lake. The rest sound like a wash or worse,,,,,and we need to stay on the Nevada side of Tahoe. Thanks for your help. MaineDon
