Driving a Ford Expedition and pulling an 18' single axle camper. When I'm traveling and only camping for one or 2 nights in one place, is it necessary to unhitch? Other than leveling issues, what do I need to know?
If the site is level, and you have no need to use the vehicle for exploring or shopping, I see no overwelming need to disconnect. Might even give the trailer a bit more stability locked to the tow vehicle?
yeah we have not disconnected on 1 nighters may times, sometimes I'll drop the stabilizing jacks just so the TT doesn't have the bounce to it. Mike
Generally we unhook because we use the truck but if it is level and the truck is not needed we leave it hooked.
The process in hitching and unhitching, especially for 1 night stays can get old very fast. If the unit is level and you do not need the tow vehicle then stay hitched. In the long run you will save time and physical energy.
