:My family and I are considering a trip to Florida this summer. Looking for a family RV park with swimming, fishing. We don't want to stay in a "parking lot". I have read a lot of great reviews of Tropical Palms. Just wondering if there is anything negative I should be aware of. Thanks Cindy
We stayed there 2001. The only "bad" thing I could think of is some of the sites are a bit far from the pool.
This is a great park (Tropical Palms)-------the pool is fantastic with a wading pool for the little ones in the same area----and a pool side restraunt for nice little breakfast or lunch or just refreshments. YOU WON'T FIND ANY FISHING THERE----that I know of. Plenty of stuff for the kids to do----from basketball, volleyball, badmitton, horseshoes, and for the old stiffs (shuffle-board). The sites range in price-----we take the electric and water sites in the grassy area with some shade----they do have a dump station or two-----and I think we paid $24 plus taxes for that site.........then they jump up to $33 or so and $36 - $40 for the slabs that are packed in like sardines in my opinion. Old Town is within easy walking distance------lotsa shops for the shoppers---and rides and games for the young at heart or younger. Short drive to Mickey Mouseland-------short drive to the local Publix Super Market and other tourist trap type stores. I promise you -------- you will find it very acceptable.
Cindy, We live about 50 mlies from this park and go to it a lot. You will be happy. The information from pejdj is correct. We love the place. So much to see and do from this park. Lot of nice places to eat close by.
I had several concerns about Tropical Palms in March. I know I was paranoid since my hubby wasn't with me and it was just me & the 5 children, but... here they are: The park backs up to a nice fence with a large grassy field beyond. What I didn't see at 10 PM were the massive power lines above. I was OK until I heard them buzzing and popping all night - that tells you how quiet it was during the week! Old Town is a small permanent carnival. On Saturday night we had to watch for drunk Spring Breakers crossing the street. The Lights and noise did reach the northern edges of the campground, and some of the booms from the human slingshot or whatever were unnerving. Agaain, I was paranoid by myself! Lastly, the snakbar manager told me one of the best things about his job was the scenery. He overlooks the pool. Go figure. Grammy came eventually, and she stayed in one of their cabins - Super clean, little kitchenette, loft above for sleeping bags. Really a nice convenience. You can buy discount attraction tickets in the office before noon, and even exchange foriegn currency there. She was most pleased!
Stayed there for a week during Spring Break. Lots of big, open sites around the perimeter. Pool is family-oriented, with lots of kids. Very convenient to Old Town, and easy to ride bikes on sidewalk along Hwy. 99. Friendly staff. Clean.
