As a full timer with over 90 reviews on the board, I was surprised, and angry when I read one of my recent reviews to find that it had been rewritten. Not only "happy to glad" changes, but substantial changes in the tone and overall impression I was trying to convey. I don't know what's going on, but if this is now the norm, I'll stop reviewing and post on every RV web site that reviews are no longer valid. What's the point of having a user-oriented review site if the owner is changing the reviews? I hope there's a good explanation for this.

I too had a review editted. I just signed up today and made two reviews. One of them was totally butchered and full of gramatical errors, mis spelled words and even parts of sentences left out. The editting that was done made me sound like a second grader and I do not appreciate some one changing my review when there was no reason to. It was a favorable review.
I WILL NOT POST ANOTHER REVIEW unless who ever changed my review changes it back. I also belong to other forums and people are talking about this issue. Below is my butchered review. Now I ask you does it read like someone with any intelligence wrote it. Read it. I deserve an apology. Maybe someone on here can direct this post to someone that runs this thing.

This park is our little piece of paradise. If you like to get away from it all, this is the place. Lots of great places to ride bikes. (The following sentence was totally butchered) The swimming and snorkling in the shallow water bay is excellent and the campground-only beach not crowded and second to none. The park is very remote with a wilderness area located at the end of a peninsula. There is abundant insect (I didn't write any thing about insects) and wildlife: be aware of rattlesnakes and aligators within the park. (I didn't write the following sentence like this)Secluded and remote means no nearby Wal-Mart or Targets. The nearest grocery is roughly 25 miles away; bring what you need. The park offers two sections: Gulf Breeze and Piney Woods. Gulf Breeze is big-rig friendly and less private than the heavily (I didn't put heavily in here) shaded Piney Woods section. Did not rate this park a 10 as it does not have full hook-ups, has spotty cel (I didn't misspell cell) phone and very little TV reception. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

John Blue and Texasrvers are the moderators for this portion of the forum and I hope they will be chiming in as there have been several complaints recently, including at least one on another forum which slammed this site. I'd hate to see this site be ruined by poor quality control.

I've looked into this, and your review as it appears online is word-for-word what was submitted. It think the confusion here is that another review came in for the same campground shortly after yours. So when you followed the link in the email notifying your that your review was online, you were seeing a review submitted by someone else, scroll down to the second review and I think you will find exactly what you submitted.

I also looked into this, and found that your review had been edited a bit. The review as submitted did have some spelling errors, but I didn't see any reason for the edits. (I'll bring this up to the person that made the changes. I've corrected your spelling errors and your review is now online as it was submitted.

Every reviewer get's a link to his review as it is approved and activated. We would prefer not to make ANY edits to reviews. If reviewers would just READ and FOLLOW the rules, no changes would be made to reviews and they would all get approved and online quicker. It takes allot of time to read each review, and much more if we have to edit them.

The main thing I edit/remove from reviews are:

    1. Peoples names - no names should be in reviews period (good or bad).
    2. Reference to other campgrounds - if you want to talk about a different campground, submit a review for it.
    3. Spelling errors - use FireFox it will underline misspelled word for you.

If there are an abundance of problems with your review, or your a new user of the site, the review will most likely be sent back to you for correction. This is to inform you of the problem so you won't have the same issue with future reviews.

If you have issues with your review, please contact me. There is a contact us link at the bottom of every page on this site.

For those who are following this - the review that the moderator mentioned was not the one that was changed & I've advised him of the correct one. I don't care if the review is restored to it's original, it's been posted for a week now; I'd just like assurances that this won't happen again in the future. Thanks for the prompt action.

I would like to add we had a large back log of reviews on hold. Thanks to the admins who worked hard over the past couple days to clean up the back log so now all older reviews are on line.

I make it a policy to write a review in my word processing program and the let it sit for a few minutes before spell checking and rereading it. I frequently go back and change a few things and even then I find a few grammatical mistakes after I upload it. I try to do this on postings also. It doesn’t take, but a few seconds and yields a much better finished product.

So I guess that you just sent this one off without thinking about it first (check the comma in the last sentence)??? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I used to wonder what kind of illiterate people RVers were as they had a hard time spelling and punctuating properly. However, I got over that quickly when I realized that I was almost as bad as they were!

Have learned to take this one step further. ;)
We DO NOT submit a review until several days after we've left a RV park or campground. This works on multiple levels. If incredibly disappointed or angry, we've calmed down sufficiently to logically communicate the issues into print.

If the experience seemed off-the-charts positive, again a couple days to mellow-out does seem to put things into perspective. More than once, hindsight proved a clearer picture, or at the minimum, a clearer command of the English language.

Although, some of the recent reviews have provided an excellent source of entertainment!

The guidelines indicate that the Admins may edit the reviews. I expect mine to be edited, am surprised if they aren't.
