Hello, Newbie to forum and newbie to RVing. Bought a little used travel trailer last year, enjoyed ourselves so much we upgraded this year to a new bigger fifth wheel. We are looking to go to Yosemite this summer. Does anyone have any suggestions where to stay? I've read the reviews for surronding campgrounds but didn't see one for High Sierra RV Park & Campground , which kind of looks promising. I've noticed that the posters who use the forum are a good source of info after reading numerous posts. If anyone has suggestions, I would appreciate it. I always travel with my little dog and I might be taking my 10 and 16 year old nephews along, so kid and pet friendly is what I need. Thanks!
There is a High Sierra RV park listed in Oakhurst, CA, which is near Yosemite. Is that the one you are looking for?
Yep, the one in Oakhurst. I'm also looking for reviews for Yosemite Ridge Resort. I've searched the internet and found 1 favorable review. I'm in southern California and I know most of the campground around here at the beaches and in the moutains. But now that I'm planning on doing more RVing out of my comfort zone, I've already found some campgrounds with great websites, only to be dissappointed. I bet most of you know the type, the website shows blue skies, green grass, great views, large spaces, all the amenities. You make your reservations, pay, and once you get there, you feel like you've been snookered.

That will be the closest full service rv park you will have going in on hwy 41. It's an ok park in the middle of town. Gets pretty hot there during the summer. There are a couple of other's if you go in the other way on hwy 120. Just my opinion,
There are several reviews on this site for High Sierra. The most recent is from Oct. 2008. Look under Oakhurst, CA. I did not find Yosemite Ridge listed here.

Hiya Folks, Thank you for your replies. After looking around and doing some researching and planning our trip, I've decided to go ahead and make reservations for the Yosemite Ridge Resort on Hwy 120. The winning factor was they are close enough to the main West Entrance of Yosemite and also a whitewater rafing company I've gone on excursions with in the past, but on different rivers. So I'll be able to see Yosemite and as a bonus to my trip, I'll get to whitewater raft down the Tuolumne River! Hopefully I'll have a good Park Review to add!
If you are coming from the Bay Area and want a family friendly rv park I would recommend Yosemite Pines http://www.yosemitepinesrv.com/ in Groveland, about 22 miles to the western entrance to Yosemite National Park. The park has gravel roads and terraced into a hillside setting with lots of pine trees. Amenities include.
