How do you keep your Trailer Connector Cable from getting cut with moving parts while traveling? Returned home last Friday finding my connector cable has a wire damaged. Any suggestions, Please.

A picture of your set up on the cord might help.

I make a point of hooking up in such a way that the cable cannot drag anywhere on the ground, which solves one problem. The second issue is getting pinched which can be resolved by routing the cable on top of all the other hookups. I wrap it around the trailer jack to get the length right and then make sure nothing is able to pinch it. Hopefully, this helps you.
