It is obvious that disagreement with the gun lobby, the NRA, and people who sincerely believe in the right to own and bear arms is not tolerated. I will say no more on the subject, but I do feel pity for you folks who somehow believe that disagreement with your position is unAmerican. It is sad.

Beastdriver, it is not the disagreement that bothers me. I support your right to not agree with me, that is truly your right as an American, and I will respect your stand. I do not however, support the knee jerk reaction to start taking away my freedoms as the right thing to do, what scares me is it could actually happen. That too will be my last word on it.

Today in Hillsborough County we had the services for a deputy with 30 years on the job. A 21 year old man pulled up next to this car and shot him in the head. Deputys found shooter in two hours, shot and killed him in a shoot out at his home. His records run back to 11 years old.

The services had over 5000 people plus our Gov. The line of cars was 16 miles long and I-275 was blocks for 3 hours. You can read or see this in link below. Yes, guns do kill! :(

    Everyone will miss him.

Too bad you don't see "your side" with that attitude that you describe. It's the attitude of "if you don't agree with me then you're all a bunch of "gun lobby and NRA". So don't go throwing names around. "Your side" is the one who believes in infringing on rights.
And who am I? I spent 35 yrs in LE at the state and federal level. I was shot at in 11 different incidents. I had several good friends on the job who were shot and some who were killed. I attended the funerals and was pall bearer at some and commanded the honor guard at quite a few. If you think the police are going to be there to protect you and your family then welcome to the Land of Oz. That just isn't going to happen. Maybe in your protected life things are rosy and life is safe and warm. Sorry, the world isn't that way everywhere.

The gun did not kill anyone, the person holding it, the person who pulled the trigger is responsible. People kill people with instruments that can be used to kill. A sick society world wide.

BRUNO IS THIS ON THE LEVEL ??

    Gun Control ,

Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history. Something to think about...

    ------------------------------

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million

Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. >From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    ------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    -----------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

    ------------------------------

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
    *> Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
    *> Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
*> Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
*> In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up

300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!) While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the American evening news or hear our president, governors or other politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans.....before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.

The governor said today that they want to give people time to protct themselves so we have all this technology and I guess the cell phone text message will keep me alive in a classroom I can not lock. You need to be able to defend yourself. the police only respond after the fact usually. So they say we are to protect ourselves but do not want to give us the means.

And there is the crux of the matter. Supporters of gun control, like any who do not support fully the first 10 amendments of the Constitution, believe that the force of government trumps the rights of the sovereign individual. Socialists or fascists, depending on their approach to turning their lives and all other lives over to the largesse of the government... but please do not call them Americans, as you insult the founding fathers and those who died to create a free country that has been pillaged by politicians since the day after the ink was dry.

Not one in 100 of today's United States citizens can honestly be called Americans. The rest are but subjects of a royalty more controlling than any that King George ever dreamed of.

Having read the entire threat on this issue, I have two things to say. One, I’m getting discussed with the opinions of the uninformed. That would be those who have absolutely no experience in handgun ownership and revel in their own sorted conceit by negatively painting those who do. Even if the majority of handguns owners do not subject themselves to the rigorous requirements of numerous state regulations to be properly licensed, firearm ownership is still a long-standing and legitimate constitutional freedom.

If you think that you anti-gun advocates have a prayer in amending the constitution to preclude individual ownership of handguns, thankfully you are sadly mistaken. The majority of Americas will cut you, and any politician who supports that, off at the knees before that happens. You need to know that we, as Americans, do not need the NRA to make it happen.

Secondly, I’d suggest that we separately line up both the armed pro-gun and un-armed anti-gun factions who have responded to this website issue. Then we’ll introduce, in the middle, a long-term criminal who has obtained a weapon - despite your state’s restrictive anti-gun law. Now, let’s make a bet on which of the lines he decides to assault.

It would be appropriate that you anti-gun advocates understand that we, who support the constitutional and essential individual protection freedoms, don’t disagree with your basic position. However, we’d appreciate it if you’d use a lot more common sense in achieving a sensible solution that doesn’t include taking guns away from law abiding American citizens.
