Off leash dogs that run up to my dog are THE WORST. Dogs have personal space just like people!!! "Oh don't worry, my dog is friendly" are the words I hate to hear as a dog is running toward my leashed dog. Then, if my dog reacts to this intrusion, it's "my dog was just being friendly".

My leashed dog will react unpleasantly when a loose dog invades his space too quickly. He is 43 of lbs muscled Dach mix, quite a bit to pick up quickly, but we try. I despise the irresponsible owners who subject others to the whims of an off leash dog. Go to a fenced area!

Watched a horrendous video on the news tonight where a dog owner with his small pet came up from behind and closed in on another dog owner that had a pit bull. The little dog didn't have a chance. Considering the reputation a lot of these pit bull types have, I have to wonder about the dog owner of the smaller pet. When in doubt, keep your distance. It might save your pet's life.

Loose dogs are for dog runs only. We have an 20lb Australian Terrier who does not like dogs in her face and even if untied rarely leaves our side. She likes meeting new friends but after about 30 seconds, she has had enough. Most people don't even realize that we have a dog because this breed is extremely quiet.

I'm going to revive this thread and say that if the parks are able to, try to group people with dogs together and preferably near the dog park (if it has one). That way the people that don't have dogs don't have to get barked at just for walking by. I would even be game for fenced off groups of RV slots for people who have dogs that get along with other ones (like people traveling together?).
